Thank you for choosing to participate in EMDR consultation. The following policies are intended to establish clear expectations and promote a collaborative, respectful, and productive learning environment.
EMDR consultation is an educational process designed to support clinicians in the competent and ethical application of EMDR therapy. Consultation focuses on strengthening clinical reasoning, case conceptualization, and fidelity to the standard EMDR protocol.
Consultation is not psychotherapy, clinical supervision for licensure, legal consultation, or crisis intervention. Consultees retain full clinical and legal responsibility for the services they provide to their clients.
I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training (CIT). Consultation provided may count toward EMDRIA certification requirements in accordance with current EMDRIA standards. Consultees pursuing EMDRIA Certification are responsible for verifying that they meet all current EMDRIA eligibility requirements.
Consultation sessions are scheduled by appointment.
Please arrive on time and prepared with any cases, questions, or materials you wish to discuss. If you anticipate being late, please notify me as soon as possible.
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your consultation appointment.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice or missed without notification may be charged the full consultation fee, except in cases of illness or emergency.
Payment is due at or before the scheduled consultation session unless other arrangements have been made.
Fees are subject to change with advance notice.
All client information presented during consultation must be thoroughly de-identified. Consultees are responsible for protecting client confidentiality and complying with all applicable laws, ethical standards, and professional regulations, including HIPAA.
Consultation discussions are treated as confidential professional communications. However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed if disclosure is required by law or professional ethical obligations.
Consultees are expected to:
Complete an EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training prior to certification consultation.
Actively participate in discussions.
Present de-identified client cases when appropriate.
Remain open to feedback and professional reflection.
Practice within the scope of their professional license and competence.
Maintain responsibility for all clinical decisions made with their clients.
Consultation may include:
Case conceptualization using the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model
Treatment planning
Target sequencing
Protocol fidelity
Discussion of clinical challenges
Review of treatment recordings (when appropriate and with proper client consent)
Review of consultation goals and progress
Consultation hours will be documented according to EMDRIA requirements. Consultees are encouraged to maintain copies of all consultation records for their own professional files.
Consultation is intended to foster a respectful and supportive learning environment.
Professional, respectful communication is expected at all times. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in termination of consultation services.
Virtual consultation is conducted through a secure videoconferencing platform. Consultees are responsible for ensuring they have:
A private location
A secure internet connection
Appropriate technology
Audio and video capabilities
To protect confidentiality, consultation sessions may not be recorded without prior written permission from all parties.
Consultation provides education and professional guidance regarding EMDR therapy. Recommendations offered during consultation are educational in nature and do not replace the consultee's independent clinical judgment or professional responsibility.
If you have questions regarding these policies or the consultation process, please contact me prior to your scheduled consultation. My goal is to provide a supportive learning experience that promotes confidence, competence, and ethical EMDR practice.
